About the job
IR Department is seeking an investor relations gun to join our passionate, high achieving team as Account Director.
Bring your strategic brain to this newly created role, together with your experience working with ASX listed companies. You will be as comfortable talking with Boards and the C-suite as dealing with junior members of the teams we work with.
You will have a strong network of Australian and international institutional and professional investors and be able to demonstrate that you’ve successfully made important investor introductions for clients you’ve worked with previously.
You’ll have experience with corporate strategy, be comfortable crafting investor communications and adept at helping clients as a safe pair of hands through business as usual and transactional periods. We don’t have thousands of layers in this business (we’re all senior consultants and self-starters), so you will need to feel comfortable working with a lot of autonomy and driving for results.
We’d love it if you also had a bit of public relations experience, but the IR piece is first and foremost in this particular role.

More details about the role
The role offers a strong integration of investor relations, public relations and corporate development activities whilst working predominantly with ASX listed companies, companies moving towards a liquidity event or funds. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a senior team, maintaining existing clients and projects, and working together to drive the growth of the business into the future.
Based in Sydney, with regular travel (travel climate permitting) to other states, you will be directly responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day management of your client programs. You will be responsible for ensuring that tasks are carried out to the exemplary standards that IR Department is known for, ensuring deadlines are met, budgets are properly created and managed, above-average results are achieved and appropriately presented and that clients remain happy and engaged.
As Account Director, you will be directly responsible for building strong relationships with your clients and with a variety of other stakeholders, including investors, brokers, analysts, corporate teams, other key influencers in the investment community and journalists. You will be commercially focused, tasked with managing budgets and daily business, identifying new business development opportunities, contributing to team culture, and finding time to have fun!
Our team thrives on achieving cut-through for clients across the sectors we operate in, which currently includes the life sciences, fintech, industrials and tech. Communicating both the risk and reward effectively such that the market can appropriately value our client companies is a challenge that we thrive on, and the Account Director will embrace that challenge with enthusiasm, integrity and the kind of respect that our clients expect and deserve.
5+ years’ experience, preferably in an agency environment working on corporate or financial communications and /or Investor relations.
Past history developing business objectives for clients and assisting them with determining how to achieve them through the application of tactics across the areas of investor and public relations, and corporate development
Media relations skills and the ability to craft a great story and build positive relationships with journalists across the business, finance and trade sectors
The ability to managing four or five client accounts and ensuring each client feels engaged, and receives timely assistance as required
Experience in managing client social channels, including insights and analytics (including LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram)
Highly organised, reliable and self-sufficient
